Federica Viola, curator and researcher in contemporary art

ABOUT

Federica Viola is an independent curator working in the field of contemporary art. She is based in Rimini, Italy.

Her curatorial practice explores the intersections between artistic practices, culture and contemporary society, with particular attention to social, cultural and environmental themes. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History (with distinction) from the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” and a degree in Law from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. This multidisciplinary background informs a holistic and critically grounded approach to curatorial work, combining cultural insight with analytical and strategic awareness.

She works in close dialogue with artists to develop exhibition projects conceived as spaces of reflection and engagement, where artworks, concepts and spatial contexts interact. Her curatorial approach is research-based and aims to foster meaningful encounters between artistic practices and audiences, encouraging critical thinking and new perspectives.

Federica Viola has curated exhibitions in Italy and internationally, collaborating with institutions, galleries and architecture studios. Selected projects include Physis Glitch – Reclaiming the Ineffable, a solo exhibition by Roberto Davolio at Novalis Art Design in Hong Kong, supported by the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong and the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong, as well as exhibitions in Frankfurt, Verona and Milan featuring emerging and mid-career artists. Her practice often integrates curatorial vision with spatial and architectural considerations, enhancing the dialogue between artworks and their exhibition context.
